River Valley is New Zealand’s original adventure lodge, located 30KM from Taihape. The business has always been family owned and operated, and started out in the 80s on the family farm. We offer a range of adventure activities and accommodation, and we also have an on-site bar/restaurant (serving delicious food made with fresh ingredients from our own gardens!). The lodge is an ideal venue for events, reunions, conferences or weddings – or just a weekend away.
If you’re looking for an adventure we have some of the best rafting in New Zealand, right outside the lodge on the Rangitikei river. Our grade 5 white water rafting trip was recently voted in the top 8 white water rafting trips in the world by Red Bull, and we also run scenic rafting trips and multi-day river holidays which are great for families.
We also run horse treks from River Valley Stables, a great way to explore beautiful back country New Zealand. All our horses are trained using natural horsemanship techniques and ridden bit-less and barefoot. We have short horse treks and also multi-day riding holidays for more experienced riders.
From the very beginning our focus has been on delivering a quality, fun experience to our guests, maintaining good relationships with our local community, and operating with a minimum footprint in our natural environment.
